From Sherry:

On my last birthday, I asked my 5-year-old grandson how old he thought I was...without hesitation he replied "ten"...the definition of old is so relative!  I truly can't believe how swiftly the last four decades have rolled by.  The first 10 years after high school included a Sociology degree from the UW and jobs in New Jersey, Indiana, California, New York and Connecticut.  In 1977, I moved back to the Seattle area and have lived here ever since.  My longest career path was in the Employee Benefits field...now I'm so busy keeping up with kids, grandkids, and aging parents that I don't know how I ever managed to work full-time.  Gil retired last October which happily gives us the opportunity to spend part of the gray Pacific Northwest winters down in sunny Palm Desert.  My interests include travel, tennis, Book Clubs, bridge, card-making, gardening, and volunteer activities.

My sweet Don Miller died this past February from a serious stroke he had in 2006.  I was unable to come to our last reunion and discovered I am on the "Missing" page.  I retired in April and I love it!    My girls, 4 grandchildren and I went to Disneyland in July as a reward for a hard couple of years. I'll be going to Poland for a Habitat for Humanity project in September.  Did I mention my grandchildren are all gifted?  My best to you all of you, Gwen.

I'm very much looking forward to our 40th reunion.  10 years has gone pretty quickly.  It's amazing how you other guys are looking so much older.

We continue to be in northeast Oregon just south of the Tri-Cities on the Columbia River.  I completed my 13th year here as principal of AC Houghton Elementary school.  They have been good years and since we continue to have good time, we probably will go out when we are 66 with 44 years in education.  My wife Rose is a Title 1 reading teacher at neighboring Boardman Elementary School.  We have three daughters and three grandchildren.  The oldest Maryanne teaches German for Mukilteo High School.  Our middle daughter Carla works at the Umatilla Chemical Depot.  She works in personnel and security.  Our oldest daughter Rachel is starting a musical career in California living in Santa Monica.  You can checkout her web site:rachellynnmuziq.com for some cool music.

We continue to enjoy recreation with our motor home as our land yacht and our little cruiser for trips to the San Juan's, Lake Roosevelt, and up-and-down the Columbia River.  There's nothing like the sun coming up in the early morning anchored in some little inlet in the San Juan Islands.  Both vehicle  and craft are oldies but goodies.

I look forward to seeing all of you.  Eisenhower was some good years and some really good education.  We were very fortunate to have the quality of teachers that we did, dedicated to our getting the best possible preparation for academics at the college level or technical schools.

See you soon.

John Sebastian

Hello to All,
I just returned yesterday(7/24/07) from Bulgaria. For the past 4 years I have been spending time with a group of orphans from Roman, Bulgaria. I have grown to love the kids and they have become a huge part of my life. I am so looking forward to seeing you all and catching up a little. I live in Fall City, but 99% of my projects are in Seattle. I always enjoy cruzin' to Yakima to remember what that yellow orb in the sky is. All for now, see you all soon...Mark(are those my legs, or am I riding a chicken)Stalder

From Lynda:

Greetings!
I have absolutely no idea how to put a photo in here, so briefly, I am still as short as ever however now with a "sturdy"  build,  grey curly hair, and of course bifocals.  I don't think I look much like I did 40 years ago, but probably no worse for the wear.

After graduating from the U of W I spent some months traveling overseas on a Eurail Pass under a back pack with two girl friends.  I met my first husband there, a New Yorker, and lived/worked in NYC for a couple years until I couldn't stand it anymore.  We moved to Portland and a few years later divorced as good friends.

My permanent husband, BIl, and I have been together 30 years, married nearly 15 of those.  I have no children however I am blessed with two grandchildren, Jack 10 and Carson 15.  Both live in the Portland area, so we can get our greedy hands on them about as often as we want to.

We take most of our vacations to the Oregon coast and central Oregon in our 27' trailer with Alyce B our 3 yo Brittany.  I would love to put her cute face in this note, maybe I wll be able to by the time of the next reunion.
Bill is retired now; I keep working to pay for the dog food.  My work in the ER at the VA has become more challenging lately.  I cut back to 4 days a week a few years ago...I was a little sturdier in my 40s.   Days off are like gold now, I am sure you all know what I mean.

We are what some call 'gym rats' ; Portland weather keeps us indoors most days of the year but in the summer we hike and canoe.   There is just no better place to live than the NW.

Thanks for putting this all together.  I wish I could have been able to be there on Friday night and look forward to Saturday's dinner.

Lynda.

Wow, 40 years!  How fast they have passed.
After getting a good solid education at Ike, I went to WSU and (barely) finished a degree in physics.  I say barely as I had caught the "computer bug" in my second year, and that
seemed to be where I wanted to go.  I received  an offer to do a masters degree in computing science at the University of Alberta (in Canada) and I took it.
One thing lead to the next and here am 36 years later, working in the same department, and having a blast.  I look back now and see that the seeds were planted (or at least nurtured) in Mr. Paine's advanced physics course--where he and I built a flip-flop that we could not get to stabilize.
It has sure been an interesting and rewarding life.  It is interesting to see the great diversity that all of our lives have taken.  I am looking forward to catching up in person at the reunion.

From David:
One finds it difficult to believe over ten years has gone by. I am still working in Trauma Surgery in the Anesthesia Department at Harborview.  Never a dull moment or situation that one does not observe in everyday living.  Over the last two years I finished my Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and am not sure of where to use that area of my life.   One of my associates is going on for his Masters, but I really feel enough hair color is enough for now. I still find working with Anesthesiologists enjoyable; training new residents is always a challenge and one finds teamwork one of the greatest joys when 3/4 of one's life is truly tied up with patient care and medical issues.
Over the least few years I have seen Norman Elder, Gary Paine, Rick Fairbrooks, Michele Pharmer Beckham and Tom Trimble.  It seems to break that twilight zone feeling about reunions that one attends one day and sees a person ten years or 20 years later.  One truly wonders what has happened to communication, but then again time passes by so rapidly anymore.
My wife Jeri is still a Registered Nurse taking care of the disabled.  We have two daughters Debra and Jodi. They are both working and slowly working on their Associate Degrees.  Our youngest daughter Jodi lives in our rental home in Selah, which we purchased a few years back.  She works at Home Depot and has been attending Yakima Valley Community College off and on as finances seem to govern.  Our oldest daughter Debra lives in Richmond Beach, works for a Timeshare firm and attends Shoreline Community College.
If anything my finishing my degree placed some focus toward our children that anything is possible, even when one works full time and attends full time university courses.
The biggest setback over the years has been observing the decline of my relative's well being.
We hope to make the 40 year this year time permitting.
