I have been involved in funeral service for 38 years, having lived in Portland, Seattle and Tacoma before moving back to Yakima in 1983.  I am currently a corporation manager for funeral homes in Yakima and Wapato.  My wife Janet, who works with me, and I have a blended family of 5 children and 8 grandchildren.  All the grandchildren live in Yakima, so it is great to have them close to us so we can spoil them and them hand them back to their parents.

I am so sorry to miss the reunion, but Paul  and I will be in Alaska fishing with our youngest daughter, Erika.  Our kids are definitely "out of the nest".  Kristin is a family practice physician here in Yakima, married, with one beautiful daughter and another on the way.  Philip is a construction engineer living in Mukilteo and working on a segment of  I-5 by Everett.  And Erika is an elementary school teacher in the Highline School District and living in West Seattle.
I still play tennis, ski, read, walk the dog, hike, fish, and love to take care of our granddaughter, Annika.
Paul still practices law here in Yakima, plays golf and fishes whenever he can.

I will miss seeing everyone.

Hello Class of '67! Quick update: I retired from teaching after thirty-one years from the East Valley School District in Moxee in 2002.  An interesting side note is that I've returned to Cadet Land as a long-term substitute the fall of '04 and then again winter of '05 through spring '06.  The various classrooms were major flashbacks to the days when I sat in those desks.  IKE is what I like to call "organized chaos" with over 2000 students.  Passing time is very interesting.  My six feet height helped immensely to see over the heads of most of the students.  Also IKE has a large population of Hispanic students with class sizes in the 30's.  My "retirement" also has included Davis H.S. La Salle H.S. and West Valley H.S. Just recently subbed for my daughter, Kellie, while she was on maternity leave.  I taught grades 1-5 in the Resource Room at Ahtanum Elementary.  Had a great time with Kellie's students.  Much different than high school students.  Life is good with three fun grandbabies, thanks to Kellie and her husband, Jason.  My son Kory is married and lives in Snoqualmie.  He is a financial advisor with a firm in Seattle; his wife Emily, is a pharmacutical rep. for the Seattle area.  Son Kyle is a student at CWU studying Mechanical Engineering.  Vince and I just celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary.  He's still working as owner of ABC Fire Control here in Yakima.  We hope to travel a bit when he decides to retire.  Love to all my peers and classmates of IKE '67.

From Judy:
I can’t believe there’s another reunion and I’m not writing a Revised Reveille! Time and technology marches on! I miss being part of the committee. What fun we’ve had in the past!

It’s been a challenging ten years, some sadness, many adventures, and much joy!

I sold my home in Yakima in 2001 after the death of my parents and after sneaking the ashes of my dog into a small hole between them at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. My daughter and two sons were married, educated, and independent, so I decided to move to Portland to be closer to my sister. It was a big move. I continued commuting back to Yakima to provide therapeutic foot care while I added foot clinics in Portland. This insane monthly commute continued until last summer when I finally made the decision to answer a 25 year call to ordained ministry as an Episcopal Priest. Through a variety of ministry experiences, I was affirmed in my call to serve the marginalized through the administration of the sacraments. I hope this will be as a hospital chaplain or in the mission field. God will plunk me right where he wants me! I’ve done two working seminary mission trips to New Orleans this year, which simply affirm for me that I am on the right track. Meanwhile, I am a starving seminary student, living in a 120 sq. ft. dorm room at Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA. I’ve completed my first year, have two to go, and then a year of hospital chaplaincy certification. Hopefully, I’ll live until I finish! Yes, I ask myself every day what the heck I think I’m doing! Never fear, I haven’t changed. I still pop off with the occasional expletive, like to have a good time, enjoy a cold beer, and engage in outrageously silly activities. Let the party begin!!

I am working as a Nurse Consultant, which also includes some social work, for an agency here in the East Bay doing nursing assessments for handicapped children and adults. I enjoy the work and exploring all of the neighborhoods in the surrounding cities. It’s flexible, and I can do all of my writing from my dorm room. I love being near the bay and all that San Francisco has to offer. I still enjoy music and playing the guitar. Yes, I still have my accordion and played it until I locked it in my storage unit! I’m an avid bird watcher, enjoy photography, bowling, travel, and art. I must confess to being a movie junkie!

My family is thriving. My son-in-law, Frank, is career army and stationed in Heidelburg, Germany. Daughter, Dana, is working on post, and my seven year old grand daughter is way too far away. I will see her when she is nine, but know that she and her folks are having a ball living abroad. My son, Paul, married Erica Ingham and lives in Spokane with my two grandsons, age six and two. Paul is an Episcopal priest who graduated from "our", school in 2004, and Erica is teaching kindergarten. Youngest, Matthew, and his wife, Len, live in Olympia. He works for Evergreen State College to support his record label and music promotion business. He’s my eclectic child. They are all happy, healthy, and safe. What more can I ask?! Being a grandma is positively the BEST!

I’d love to hear from all of you. The older I get, the more important maintaining old friendships is. God willing, I will see you all in August. Many blessings to the gang!

Hello from Olympia,
I am sorry to miss the party and appreciate all the hard work you all have done. Please don't give up on the ones that could not make it this year. I hear some are asking for one in 5 years. I am among them.
My husband Dwight and I have lived in the same house now for 29 years but before that we lived in Seattle and Portland and moved 4 times in 3 years. I guess moving is for the younger.
My sons are grown and one is married. Ryan and his wife, Brooke ( newly graduated from St. Martins)live here in Olympia and are hard at work finishing school and being employed. They got married in Maui in 2003 so that meant we all flew to the island and of course had a wonderful time. My youngest son Darren, is still finding himself ! Mostly he finds himself in my house, eating my food. But I love him.
My mom and her husband of 40 years live in Olympia too and doing really well for 86 years old. Both are self sufficient. Whew!

I work in Nisqually Middle School as a Para Educator for an Alternative classroom consisting of 7th and 8th grades. We get the kids that fall through the cracks. They do not qualify for Special Ed. and are failing classes or skipping school or are pregnant, impoverished, or possibly abused. There is never a dull moment and my job can be totally frustrating when dealing with the parents of these kids, but the kids themselves all have promise and need attention and support.
My husband is very close to retirement and says he needs to retire just to keep up with the yard. Likely story, I say. I have heard retirement changes relationships. Let's see, I will be retired in 5 years so we will check in then, if the committee decides to do this again. Hope they do.
 Thanks again, Janice Browne Long

Hey Lisa ! Where the heck are you?

Great Website! Awesome job!

What a blast from the past!!

As some of you already know I went to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon after high school and the Portland/Vancouver Metroplex became my home.

In February we moved into a new home in Camas, Washington and we have been enjoying our spectacular view of the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, and Eastside Portland.

For the past 24 years I have been on the Pastoral Staff of City Bible Church. From 1983-1993 I was the church administrator over the church, elementary school, high school, Portland Bible College, and built the 3,000 seat sanctuary, and school facilities during those years.  From 1993-1996 I was the director of the Pastoral Department and in 1996 became an Executive Pastor over all the various ministries and assistant to the Senior Pastor. We have about 5000 people who attend our 3 campuses and 13 services a week. Our locations are Rocky Butte on the Eastside of Portland, the crossroad of 217 Hwy and 99 Hwy in Tigard, and Mill Plain and 205 in Vancouver. I also help teach in the Bible College and travel about once a month ministering nationally & internationally.

Libby is very involved with the leadership of our women’s ministries and does a great deal of counseling especially with the college and young married women. She is also invited to minister in other churches and at women’s events throughout the year, usually in the U.S. We team up together several times a year and do ministry trips together.

Our son Jack (28) went to our Portland Bible College and was the children’s pastor on our Tigard Campus for 3 years.  He and his wife Brooke moved to Boise Idaho a year ago to work for his father in-law’s land development company, Vision First.

Our daughter Julianne (19) is attending Portland Bible College and is very involved with various ministries in our church. She plays the drums, guitar, sings, and is working on the piano now . She is full of life, creativity, and fun which keep us young!!

We are hoping to rearrange our travel schedules so we can attend the reunion in August. Hope to see you there!

 Jack & Libby Louman

WOW... A lot has happened in 10 years, well actually the last 4. I found myself single, again, saying what can I do for fun now. I always wanted to do more outdoor activities so I joined the Mountaineers club....started hiking, learned to Nordic ski, learned to sail. Sailing lead me to a singles yacht club where I met Roger. We have found a truely fantistic life together. He has been in the boat business most of his life and now we are working together. A must to do, if you like sailing, is Duck Dodge on Lake Union (Seattle) on Tuesdays through the summer. As I write this I am sitting in my office on Lake Union watching.  What a life!!! It is Great!

....May not make it to the reunion. We have two boats being delivered in the next three weeks and will be very busy. But have fun......

The years roll by quickly – how can our high school graduation be 40 years ago? My 50's have treated me well. My wife of 31 years, Marlyn, and I are grandparents of a wonderful 2 year old boy, Henry. Our daughter, Libby and her husband Alex have another boy on the way in September. We are fortunate that they all live here in town. Our middle son Andy is working as an appraiser in the Yakima County Assessor's office. Our youngest, Jimmy, is doing a study abroad in Paris this summer and is having a great time learning the language and culture. He will be a senior at Western this year.

I continue to enjoy my job running our distribution business and watching it grow. Over the past 30 years there have been plenty of challenges to keep my wheels turning. I've also enjoyed being a volunteer in our community Last year Bill Dolsen, his wife Rhonda (sister of Gail Englund Davenport), Pat Carey (Class of 1968) and I started a group to help make the communities of Yakima County a safer place to live. I think that there have been some positive developments since we started. Despite it's problems, I love living and working in Yakima. The relaxed lifestyle is hard to beat.

I discovered fly fishing when I turned 40. Now I am a fly fishing addict for trout and steelhead. I have traveled all over the Northwest, as well as to BC and Alaska chasing fish. I also enjoy pheasant hunting and skiing, especially with my family. I've kept in touch with quite a few classmates over the years and look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
